The Seeds of Dementia Guardian

Updated: Aug 8, 2025

Every idea starts somewhere. For me, Dementia Guardian didn’t begin in a boardroom or a marketing meeting—it began in the quiet, personal moments of caring for my parents. It began in the small, unpredictable challenges of everyday life that many caregivers face but few see. Moments filled with uncertainty, vulnerability, and the heavy weight of responsibility. Moments where patience was tested, compassion was needed, and understanding was scarce.

Caring for a loved one with dementia is not just a series of tasks—it’s a deeply human journey marked by love, frustration, hope, and heartbreak. It’s in those raw, honest experiences that the need for a new kind of communication became clear. Something simple, respectful, and immediate—a symbol that could speak for those who struggle to explain their world.

Two experiences, one with my father and one with my mother, crystallized this vision. These moments, both challenging and eye-opening, planted the seeds that would grow into Dementia Guardian. A mission to create a universal, instantly recognizable symbol that tells the world, “This person is living with dementia—please respond with patience and compassion.”

These are two of those stories...

Part One - My Father.

Part Two - My Mother.
